Revelation - Journey

Journey is back with a new front man, Arnel Pineda formerly from The Zoo. The Zoo did covers of Journey, Survivor, Aerosmith, Bryan Adams, Nirvana and the list goes on. I like their original song (i think), Pain In My Heart.

Journey's new album 'REVELATION' is set to be release next month. The first disc will consist of 11 re-recorded classics, the second is filled with 11 new songs, and the third is a live, in-concert DVD. All of the music on REVELATION was produced by Kevin Shirley (who previously worked with JOURNEY on their Platinum-certified TRIAL BY FIRE album). JOURNEY will take REVELATION on the U.S. concert trail later this July, with details to be announced in the coming weeks. Now that's certainly an album to look for.

“It’s so exciting to sing with one of the best bands in the world. It’ll be a lot of hard work on my part and I’m actually looking forward to the scrutiny I’ll get from the hardcore JOURNEY fans. I know they’ll expect me to sound exactly like ‘the voice’ (Steve Perry), but that will never happen. I know there's only one Steve Perry in this world.” - Arnel who hails from Quezon City in the Philippines!!

“I was frustrated about not having a singer,” explains guitarist Neal Schon, “so I went on YouTube for a couple of days and just sat on it for hours. I was starting to think I was never going to find anybody. But then I found The Zoo and I watched a bunch of different video clips that they had posted. After watching the videos over and over again, I had to walk away from the computer and let what I heard sink in because it sounded too good to be true. I thought, ‘he can’t be that good.’ But he is that good, he’s the real deal and so tremendously talented. Arnel doesn’t sound synthetic and he’s not emulating anyone. I tried to get a hold of him through YouTube and I finally heard from him that night, but it took some convincing to get him to believe that it really was me and not an imposter.”

Now ain't that a dream come true for Arnel. Who would have thought that Journey would find their next front man via YouTube. Amazing stuff..

However, this ain't amazing, some kids just don't play dead. Making a comeback after almost two decades with a new album 'Summer Time' is New Kids On The Block (NKOTB). The oldest "Kid," Jonathan Knight, now a real estate developer, will turn 40 later this year. Since the band's demise, former members Donnie Wahlberg, 38, and Joey McIntyre, 35, have seen acting success, while Danny Wood, 38, has worked as a music producer and Knight's brother, Jordan, 37, has continued to record. Now after 18 years will they still sound the same or different. Time will only tell.

lost & found

I found the little card that michelle had given me. The plastic cover & the card were lying next to my cpu under my table. I am sure it wasn't there yesterday. Anyways, I am glad to have it back. :)

Went to Vivo city for lunch wif my colleagues and for the first time I had a burger at Carls Jr. Was expecting much more as Rick had always said it was really good and portion was huge but to me, it was okie. Finally found my book though at a second-hand bookshop at Vivo -Book Three of the Dreamers 'Crystal Gorge' by David & Leigh Eddings. Yes, I am huge David Eddings fan from the days of Belgarion & Sparhawk. At least I have something to occupy my train rides to work. :p It's Saturday night and I'm at home, dead tired.. sigh!!

Gathering Of Talents - GOT!!

It's 2:30am on a Saturday morning and I'm listening to trey songz. was kinda sad yesterday as Michelle left Singapore for china yesterday morning. to make matters worst, someone stole/took the little card that she wrote for me. i left it on my table and someone took it. tot these ends happened it school only... hopefully anyone who took it, returns it as it is something dear to me.

Talking about dear.. my niece Xin Lan drop by work today and gave me a big surprise. i was really happy and got a much needed hug from her. :) it was good seeing my dear niece again. then later in the evening, i bump into another dear of mine.. my darling Nessa. although she didn't see me, it was good seeing her again. :)

Went down to Esplande with Jason to see Corrinne do an acoustics piece with her two friends at the arts cafe, Esplande library. i must confessed that this girl is good considering the fact that this is her first time. the first song she did was something she wrote and she pull it off confidently. for her first gig, it went down well. Hopefully we'll hear more from Corrinne and her friends. :) you go girl. Here's what happens every friday at Singapore Arts Cafe:-

"Hallo friends of the Singapore Art Cafe. Here's what's happening down here at the SAC this month of May. There will be GOT! (Gathering Of Talents) music showcases every Wednesday and even a Saturday (in the case of Genie's 君怡 showcase this coming Saturday).

Open Mics are held every Friday 7-9pm, where anyone can come up to belt out songs in an acoustic setting. For fans of local Mandarin folk-pop, the monthly Xinyao Open Mic is on the last Thursday of the month (May 29).

Come support these gatherings of talents. And why not try out being one yourself on Fridays at the open mics? Start walking, here at the SAC... see ya there :-)
"

The other bands that performed were awesome too. Hope to be back there again in two weeks time. Met Melvin & Mellisa for dinner @ Makansutra. Beside DXO, Lunarin was perfoming at the Waterfront Stage and they were really awesome too. Took a ride from melvin and i'm still up. It's almost 3am in the morning.

Get to know yourself better

Saw this Personality Test on a friend's blog and decided to give it a shot. However, the results are pretty scary as it's almost real..

Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:
You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Your views on education:
Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.

The right job for you:
You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

How do you view success:
You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Who is your true self:
You like privacy very much because you enjoy spending time with your own thoughts. You like to disappear when you cannot find solutions to your own problems, but you would feel better if you learned to share your thoughts with a person you trust.

That friday night

Movie Night

From the Director of ONG BAK and TOM YUM GOONG.

Yakuza Masashi and his Thai lover Zin were forced to separate with Masashi being sent back to Japan and Zin to continue staying in Bangkok as a single mother. Brought up single-handedly by Zin, their daughter Zen, is autistic in nature. She is compensated with agility and picks up Muay Thai through watching television programs and from observing the trainings taking place at the Muay Thai academy next door. Zen becomes an obsessive fighter who excels at catching fast-flying objects. When Zin is diagnosed with cancer, Zen has to fight her way through to collect money from her mother's debtors to raise her medical funds..

Watched 'Chocolate' with Rob last night and I though it's going to be another 'Ong Bak' movie. Don't get me wrong but I loved 'Ong Bak' and 'Tom Yum Goong'. Yea, I did catch both movies. However, 'Chocolate' prove to be different and it's really more entertaning than the previous two movies. This kid
'Yanin Vismitananda aka JeeJa Yanin' kicked more ass than Tony Jaa in both movies. From Cinema is Dope :-

The lead female actress forms some kind of hybrid between Tony Jaa and Bruce Lee (in spots). Mostly they play to her own strengths (which you have to see to believe) and really never tries to rival either Tony or Bruce. The story is slight, but the broad spectrum of characters and scenarios more than complete the film into an absolute marvel and one of the absolute treats of 2008 cinema'.

Yes, you really have to sit it believe it.. this girl rocks!! The movie is great and it's worth ya $10. However, I can't say much about the website though. It states,

'This website is required Flash Player 9 of higher, If yours computer deprived this please download here'

The English did make me smile but when I clicked to Enter Site, the page just takes forever to load. I've even downloaded the latest Flash Player just to make sure. Oh well, one can't please everyone. Anyways, do watch it and it makes you wanna take up Muay Thai.

We had dinner @ Sakura International (Clementi) and then headed to Ben & Jerrys (Dempsey Road). Ricky & Dexter drove us to Ben & Jerrys but Dex didn't joins as he had a prior appointment and Andy went back with Dexter as he was heading to Jurong coz the rest of us ws in the north. It's funny coz we had dinner @ Sakura and Drinks @ Ben & Jerrys.. :p Michelle joined me in having a hoegaarden!! For someone who don't like beers, she found a liking for hoegaarden. :D Well, I guess it has not hit me yet but I know I'll miss her very much.

To Michelle:- Do take care of yourself whilst you are in Beijing. Only trust yourself and God above who will never let you down. :) We will await your return and we'll have a KTV session in July. In the meantime, smile always and I'm glad that our paths crossed. God Bless!!

Movie Night

CONGKAK
Synopsis:
Kazman is a dedicated husband who, despite his wife Sufiah's protests, decided to buy a bungalow for their family near a lake as a family getaway. Anxious in the new house, Sufiah feels as if someone is watching her. Her daughter Lisa, who would always go downstairs at night to play congkak with someone whom she could only see, compounds her uneasiness. Sufiah throws the congkak in the lake, but is awakened the next night by the sound of the congkak being played again and upon investigation, she sees an old lady playing it. When her daughter disappears, the oldest resident in that area, Pak Tua, comes to the family's rescue and helps in locating the missing family members.

Watched it with my colleagues ytd at West Mall and I would give it two thumbs for visual and sound effects. I confessed that there were certain parts that made me jump.

Tuesday

Realised today what my seniors went through when I was just a newbie. Always wondered why they ask me speak louder, or get fustrated whenever I ask a question. I told myself that I won't do such a thing but now three years later I realised that I am turning into them... haha. Actually realised that they were not angry or fustrated with me but with the callers. Realised it today when my niece Shu Hui answered calls on her own today. Guess I was too hard on her as I vented my fustrations on her. Hmmm... I shld have done better... have to learn to keep my emotions and temper in check. Yes, I do have a temper and a few have witnessed it. ;p We learn new things everyday. . . Here's to a better tmr. :)

With regards to my previous post, I'm really excited that my fav comic character is finally coming out in the big screen. 'Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of...' yes, it's none other than Thor!! The only setback about the movie is that Brad Pitt is rumored to be Thor. I have nothing against Brad but Thor is larger than life. The Edge wld be a better choice but he's one ugly dude. Haha... Hmmm.. how about Triple H. Now that's a thought. However, Marvel is courting Brad Pitt to be Thor.. sigh!!

Oh yes, Ant-Man is due to be released in 2010 and Ghost Rider 2 in 2009. If you my readers, do have any interesting movies coming up, do let me know. Thanks.

Pesach III

The Angelus Choir
Pesach III

It's finally over, no more sound checks, feedbacks and mixers for the time being. It's been like 5 months since I left angelus choir and somewhere it didn't seem like the same anymore. Guess I am losing my touch. Anyways, Pesach III was better than last year on the sound aspect. It could have been better but given the design n acoustic of the church, we just had to work with what we have. But nonetheless, it worked out pretty well. The other choirs also had a blast of the time and everyone had a good time. I am glad that I don't have to do this at least for another year, if there is one. Been sleeping like 3am for the whole week and today it's no exceptional. I guess I should head to bed soon, otherwise I will be 'phy-ed'. Hahaha.... just came up with that one.

one more thing, a big shout out to my niece xin lan.
all the best in your exams... jia you.

of colleagues & friends & family

(from left) jason, ricky, me, andy & dian
this was taken last wednesday night @ lobby court, swiss hotel. we went down to lobby court to have some drinks and listen to the resident pianist who happens to be on an internship with our company. its a nice place to chill out with good company after a hard days work. sigh, at times like this, i wish i was working in town again rather than jurong. oh well, there's pros and cons in everthing.

anyways.. celebrated lucas birthday @ obar. it was nice catching up with old friends and dancing the night away. will post the pictures once i've gotten them. we ended at 3pm and headed to spize for breakfast. finally got home at 4-ish, slept at 5am. woke up late for work, only reached office @ 9-ish stilll feeing stone n tired; and of all days, the intranet chose to be down today. but the show must still go on, so we use word pads to log the calls. called andy to inform him and he got the tech guys in to check. the intranet was up just before 1pm so we had to log in the calls in the system. not sure why i took such a long time to log the calls, may becoz i was really stoned and not functioning. had lunch inbtwn and finally left office @ 5pm on a saturday. so u might think that i headed home to sleep??? nah, went to church @ 6pm.. had dinner wif jen, suee, pat n jo-n and finally came back home @ 10pm. i think i crashed @ 11 odd as i couldn't stay awake no more..

had breakfast with my bro and his family @ little india. it's always nice seeing my beautiful nieces.. okiez, i got to run now. melissa's comp is having problems again. in the meantime, i leave u with this pics.

my adopted niece @ work, shui hui.

update:-

couldn't fix melissa comp. the comp hangs after a while, even during scanning a loud beep soon occurs. whilst trying to find the source, i hit the blue screen - restart the comp but the windows just don't load. the error messgae that changes, the last read out i had was:-

'IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL'

STOP: 0X0000007E (0xC000000E, 0x8080BAF1, 0xF8A01A1C, 0xF8A1718)

did a search on the web, but couldn't find anything. i assume that some driver or adapter is 'fucked'. mel's pc is quite old so none of the knowledge base from microsoft offer much help. guess i have to do a fdisk and reinstall windows tmr. . otherwise, does anyone got any ideas??

it's freaking warm today... times like this, i wish i had an aircon.

Labour Day

Had dinner with my colleagues @ Popeye Chicken & Biscuits @ Singapore Flyer yesterday. The outlet is nice & spacious and the food is great. It sure beats KFC hands down. In time to come, once Marina Downtown is up, the view is going to be awesome. I'm sure people some people feels that the Singapore Flyer is nothing special and boring. Well, I've not taken it yet but I will soon and would comment on it. However, just thinking of the future developments in Singapore have will make it a worth going. There is

Gardens by the Bay
F1 Ciruit
Marina Barrage
Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort

New Bridge
Designed as a double helix structure, the new 280-metre bridge will link the Bayfront area to Marina Centre, completing a walking route that brings visitors to the major attractions around the bay including Singapore Flyer. The bridge, expected to be completed around 2009, will be spearheaded by award-winning architect Philip Cox

Art Park
The Art Park, situated on the northern end of the new bridge at Marina Centre, will feature artworks by Singapore youths submitted during an Art Competition organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority. The competition was designed to commemorate the new bridge, which is set to become a spectacular landmark to view from the observation wheel of Singapore Flyer

anyways, after popeye's chicken, we headed to swiss hotel lounge for drinks and hear benzi play, the kid is really good. we hanged around until he ended and we headed to millenia tower to pick up jennifer (sun nui)who finished work at almost 2am. we headed for desert cum supper. my sun nui picked the place and it was not familiar to me, maybe becoz i was on a nice high but tired. couldn't stay awake after long and it was signal to head home. knocked out once i got into rick's car and he was kind enough to drop me off at my carpark...thanks dude!!

came back home at about 4am i think and slept till 11am. accompanied my mom to church and had breakfast.. so i've been on the comp eversince i came back ... haha. okiez i am outta here.. going to watch ironman @ vivo and i'm freaking late ...
